This was the fifth in a series of Six Sigma in R&D Workshops structured to investigate and access the impact and benefits that Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, TRIZ, and other improvement approaches bring to industrial R&D organizations.

More than 100 technical, managerial and executive R&D professionals from the Pacific Rim, Europe and the Americas attended.   Participants said that the Six Sigma Workshop provided them with valuable background on and insight into the deployment, value and impact of improved R&D methods.

The Workshop gave participants an opportunity to learn and discuss new ways to improve the conduct and effectiveness of R&D.  A planned sequence of tutorials, plenary sessions, a poster session and breakout sessions provided the most effective forum for discussing and learning, as well as creating, shared insights for quality improvement.

The Workshop was organized for both the Six Sigma beginner and seasoned Black Belts.

The tutorials acquainted novice participants with basic vocabulary and perspective on the tutorials’ topic areas, and gave expert participants an opportunity for more intensive, shared learning.   Following the tutorials, novices and experts alike participated energetically in the discussions of new and sometimes conflicting ideas shared in the plenary sessions and poster session.  The breakout sessions afforded participants with the opportunity to resolve many of the questions that arose during the workshop and provided a starter list of topics for next year's workshop.

2007 Six Sigma Workshop:
Mark your calendars now for March 2007 - exact dates to be determined.
