The 2008 IRI Medalist is Ralph Snyderman, MD, Chancellor Emeritus, Duke University and Chairman, Proventys, Inc. Dr. Snyderman is honored for his vision and leadership in the integration of core academic research and development technologies with the delivery of health care to assure the best and most innovative patient care; for his contributions in science, business, and policy that helped advance the frontiers of personalized medicine; and, for his leadership during the formative years of biotechnology in bringing the promise of recombinant DNA technology to healthcare when Activase,®, the first blockbuster biotechnology product from Genentech, was approved by FDA, helping Genentech attain and sustain the leadership it has today.
